Our Process
Just because the optometry industry is changing, doesn’t mean you need to take on all the new demands of your business by yourself. OMG Vision can help you spend less time managing your practice so you can spend more time with your patients.
Learn more about the process we go through with every practice to support your business, so you can focus more on what you love.
Initial Consultation
For us to do what we do best, it’s important for us to spend the time getting to know everything about your practice. Through a simple phone call with our team members, we’ll discuss the goals for your practice, your patients, and your community.
During this phone call, we’ll also tell you about our goals and explain how we use our philosophy to preserve, promote, and advance your practice.
If your goals align with ours, we will provide you with a complete program summary and inform you of the next steps.
Evaluation
The next step is for us to evaluate your practice. We’ll discuss what’s working for you, and what isn’t.
One of the pillars that guides our process is preservation, and we aim to do just that. Maintaining the things that set your practice apart from others is something we want to enhance, not change. Knowing where your practice currently is helps us plan how we’ll push it into the future.
Due Diligence
Following the evaluation of your business, we’ll need to gather more details about the operations of your practice.
Due diligence is an especially important part of our process. During this stage, we will investigate, audit, and review any financial or legal details that are vital to advancing your business.
Once this has been completed we will present you with the purchase agreement and complete any negotiations before finalizing the deal.
Integration
The final step of our process also happens to be our favorite: elevating your business to be the best it can be.
We do this by offering you specialized training, continued education, technology upgrades, and industry advocacy to help you:
- Streamline your operations
- Free up your time to see more patients
- Grow your business

Testimonials
“Growth can be intimidating, but I am excited for what’s to come from our partnership with OMG. We will now have insurance for our employees that we had not been able to offer in the past. We will have better pricing and business relationships for our doctors and team. We will have better choices and options for the patient. This change is very welcomed and I cannot wait for the days ahead of us.”
Jean Dugger, Practice Manager, Dayton Optometric Center
“I’ve been in the optical field for 19 years, working for Dr. Schmit until he retired a year ago. We are very grateful to Optometric Management Group for treating us like family and helping the transition run smoothly. We are thankful for all the support, training, and continuing education Optometric Management Group has provided thus far. I am fortunate to work for an amazing company doing something I enjoy.”
Christi Hall, Office Manager, White Oak
“I have reached the point in my career where I am ready to transition towards retirement. I have worked very hard to build a tech-savvy practice in a small rural Ohio village. And I care deeply about my patients and staff. So I thought it would be a daunting task to find a potential successor.
There is no doubt that the ophthalmic marketplace is changing and is now dominated by private equity. I just couldn’t stomach selling my practice to a corporation that would prioritize profits ahead of the well-being of my patients and staff. Luckily, Optometric Management Group (OMG) emerged as a perfect solution. OMG, being owned and operated by fellow optometrists was attractive to me immediately. I know the leadership team of OMG personally and I have complete confidence that they share my passion for patient education and compassionate clinical care. It has become an easy decision to sell my practice and join the OMG family.
So far, the transition has been painless and seamless. I have instant access to the OMG leadership team and speak with them frequently. It would simply be impossible to have instant access to the executives of the larger private equity options. Also, the OMG staff has been helpful in onboarding and welcoming my staff into the OMG family. I am excited for my patients and staff to reap the benefits of joining a larger group that can compete with other private equity groups. I look forward to OMG building upon our foundation and helping our practice continue to grow and thrive. I trust OMG to be a vanguard of clinical innovation and practice management. And when I retire into the sunset, I will rest easy knowing that I found the best successor that my patients and staff deserve.”
Russ Maringer, OD, MS Oak Harbor Family Eyecare
“It was my goal to retire after 40 years and to not continue working during a transition phase out period. I was introduced to Optometric Management Group which was formed by three optometrists who are very active in our profession. They care about the independent practice surviving and furthering professional development. The selling process was straightforward, fair for all and done in a very timely manner. All the staff were retained in the transition and I was able to walk away, both of which were important to me. OMG was easy to work with and open to any concerns or suggestions that came up during the due diligence and contract negotiation process.”
Anonymous, OD
Being in the middle of my optometry career (15 years out of school and not close to retirement), a crossroads moment occurred where it was buy out my soon-to-retire partner or find another option. For me, while I truly enjoy patient care, the aspect of running the entire business side of things as well was not appealing. After being approached by many private equity firms and the like and not being impressed, we had conversations with the leadership group with OMG. The plans they outlined, the answers to my questions regarding operations, staffing, responsibilities, goals, etc. all made me comfortable with the prospects of joining their group.
The current transition period from old to new is hectic as expected, but the availability of all the OMG leaders has been tremendous and I have great faith that as we complete our move and transition, things are going to continue to progress in a positive fashion. I have great expectations for new opportunities and benefits that are currently happening and those that are soon to come.
